Turns

The polypeptide chain can make very sharp changes in direction using as few as four residues by means of hydrogen bond stabilised $\beta $-turns. These secondary structures often have specific amino acid preferences[Hutchinson & Thornton, 1994] and commonly contain proline and/or glycine residues.
